It was the late 60’s the Stones, Elvis & Beatles were big (smoking was too,) the streets and beaches of New York were alive with rhythm, I could easily have slotted in right there and then! New York is the only place on earth I want to experience with all my heart! These pics are by one of my all-time favourite photographers, the iconic Joseph Szabo. Photographers nowadays get so bogged down by rules, gear, perfect to the millimetre rules of composition and banks of manufactured lighting, they so utterly miss the point. Joseph was a frustrated high-school teacher in need of inspiration so he started photographing his students, and captured all the angst and excitement of being caught between childhood and adulthood, he never missed the point, the point being capturing fractions of life, nothing manufactured just pure and raw as it played out on the streets.
